  • Trauma Recovery

If you have survived something terrifying, the echo of what you experienced sometimes just keeps repeating. You might try to ignore it, but it burst forth and disrupts your life. When you try to talk about it with your loved ones, it can be difficult to explain what you're going through. This difficulty in finding the right words makes recovering from trauma feel lonely. It can be hard to explain things like how you startled or get triggered by things that you believe should not bother you. Perhaps small things often stress you out, you may be going through waves of anxiety, moodiness or irritability. Sometimes you find yourself wondering if you’ll ever feel safe again. Trauma recovery treatment can facilitate healing. The healing process can be painful and embarking upon it is a brave thing to do. While it is not easy, it is effective and transformative. And you are not alone in this. We will be there to support, guide you, and meet you where you are emotionally. If you have tried therapy and saw no results, chances are you were engaged in therapy that was only talk-based. I am a trauma therapist and am trained in utilizing evidence-based treatment modalities for PTSD and trauma including EMDR, CPT, TF-CBT and PE.

I have experience working with individuals experiencing the effects of:

    ~Sexual Assault

~Childhood Trauma (sexual, physical and emotional abuse)

~Relational or interpersonal violence such as domestic violence/abuse

    ~Intergenerational trauma

    ~Secondary trauma

    ~Vicarious trauma

  • Anxiety, Depression, & Stress

Do you find yourself constantly worrying about potential detrimental events or circumstances across domains, such as work, school, family, health, etc.? Perhaps you have difficulty concentrating, have muscle tension, have difficulty staying or falling asleep, feeling on edge or restless? Anxiety is hard-wired into our brains to help us detect threat or danger. Unfortunately, the fear system can become overactive, making us feel fearful or anxious when the threat or danger is only perceived.

Stress is a reaction to a stressor, or any situation or thought that upsets you. Feelings of stress often stem from feelings of frustration and nervousness. Most individuals will suffer from stress at some point. However, some people can manage stress better than others. Suffering from chronic stress without the right tools can put you at higher risk of developing mental and physical health problems, that is why it is so important to learn effective stress management techniques.

When you are experiencing depressive symptoms, it can affect just about everything in your life, how you think, feel, behave, and function. It can leave you feeling stuck, empty, and easily frustrated even over small matters. Your symptoms may vary from sadness to fatigue. If you have depression or think you might be experiencing signs of depression, know that you are not alone. Reaching out and starting therapy can help you in better understanding the causes of your symptoms.
